LIGHT
Due to the fact that our film was shot in dark woods at night, we knew we needed a light in order to get any footage. We wanted a generator to hook up the lights we had at school. therefor we contacted HSS hire about a generator/light source, and asked about hiring and costs. we organized with our school and the hire shop to be able to pick up the lights which we booked for 2/3 days. We took away a small light, but after a day's filming, all our footage was too dark, so we had to hire a bigger light which could light up more area. We used both lights carefully to make sure every necerssary detail was lit up.
RADIO SCRIPT
We decided to change our radio script to make it simpler, with only 1 person, and to a man. This made it sound more professional easier.
Mans voice: Polie have reported an incient in Saint Rethoms woods in the Streatham area. they are advising memebers od the publi to steer clear of the immediate vicinity until they know more.
On to the weather, there are clear skies today and low humidity.
This adds mysetry to the situation and gives a bit of bakcground information to the next scene. However, it poses questions, such as : Do they know about this warning and are there anyway? Did they go there because of the warning? Are they unaware of any incident and got unwillingly caught up in something?
Also, what was the incident? This gets the audience intrigued and draws them in.
We added in a mention to the weather to make it reognisabley like a radio, and also to contrast with the scary notice given before. It could make the audience forget about the scary notice and think of nicer things until they are thrust into the horrible situation in the woods.
In order to make it sound more authentic for our clip we decided to edit in on garage band to make it sound recognisabley like a radio reporter.

CHARACTER MISE EN SCENE
Many horror films have female lead characters. Although this character wouldn't continue to the rest of the film, we decided to make her appealing to draw in the audience. We chose a blond actress- typically the hair colour of female leads in a horror film. Examples of this ARE Drew Barrymore in Scream, and Dial M for Murder
We chose generic 'cool' teenager clothes, as our film was aimed at teenagers and we wanted to appeal to them. By choosing red for the shirt and the hat, we had more colour to show up, as our film was quite grey due to the lighting. We decided to give the actress a hat, coat and bag to make it look as though she was planning on staying in the woods for a while, which would pose questions about her situation. The white shoes (although covered in mud to show she had been in the woods for a while) showed up in the darkness, so the feet could be seen, which are important, as she spends alot of her time on screen running. we also put dirt on her face to show she'd been running through the woods.

Dan: We're going to cut from this to go to Louise for some breaking news.
Louise: Thanks dan. there has been a reported incident in Saint Reathoms woods in the Streatham area. Police have issued a statement asking people to steer clear of the immediate area until they know more. Back to you Dan!

PREPARING FOR FILMING
We wanted to warn the people near-by and the woods we were going to that we would be filming there, so we emailed the council about it. This is a copy of the text in our email
We are AS level media students at Graveney School, and we identified The Rookery as the place we wanted to shoot our film. However, we would have to be there after sunset, so we wanted to make sure you were aware we were there. Our film involves big lights, and scenes with screaming and people running. This was just to warn you in case anyone was concerned. We are also writing notes to hand through people’s doors that live around the area to warn them.
Thanks,
Joely Holder, Maria Kakoulli, Louise Fisher, Jake Lovelace

PREPARING FOR FILMING
For our film, we knew we'd be filming in the woods in the dark so we'd need a light. At first, our idea was to have light coming from the hand held video camera in the film. However, we discovered that the camera didn't have this ability so we needed to hire a light. Originally, we wanted to hire a generator and use the school's lights. It turned out the only generators that could be hired out were petrol run, and there were health and safety issues with us using these. Instead, we were given a large electric light to use.

STARTING STORYBOARD
We started our storyboard today. We decided we are going to need to change our script a bit, as since doing our storyboard we can see what will work better.
SCRIPT
Script
Through the hand held camera the screen starts off black as Joely is trying to get the camera to work.
Screen remains black
Joely: oh c’mon work, please work! (Crying)
She continues to hit the camera with her hand until the screen goes fuzzy and it turns on. Camera is facing up towards her face and it’s shaking because she is scared, we see that she is distressed and confused.
Joely: Thank God (whispers) Bruce! (Whispers three times)
Camera pans down to see the glove on the floor
Joely: Bruce! (Shouting)
There is a rustling noise and she begins to run, camera still in her hands.
The camera switches when she hears the rustling noise, this shows Joely from another perspective. The camera then switches back to handy cam when she first starts to run.
… After running for a while she trips over a branch on the floor, cuts her leg and the camera falls to the woodland floor.
Once the camera has dropped the handy cam switches to the main camera.
Joely: Shit (annoyed)
She picks the camera back up, camera change to handy cam. She hits the camera to try to get it to work, it turns on and she uses the light to try to see the wound on her leg in the dark.
Joely: (in pain) ooow! Crap! (noises under her breath)
Camera pans up towards her face.
Joely: (terrified in a state of hysterics, crying) …if anyone finds this…get out while you can…it’s not safe (trembling) If you’ve seen the lights already…it’s too late.
Her face turns to the side and a faint light shines on the side of her face, she then turns back to the camera, her face in panic… scared to say anything…she then continues to run again.
The camera is shallow focus, on a close up of a tree branch, we hear a sound getting louder then we briefly see Joely run past really fast which disrupts the branch leave and the camera stays focused on the branch until it settles again.
She suddenly drops the camera and it falls to the floor sideways, we see her legs getting dragged away.
Joely: (screaming in terror) AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Screen fades fuzzy, we hear the fuzzy noise from the camera
Whilst the opening credits come up we hear the radio over.
Radio presenter: There have been sighted reports of strange lights in the sky, officials have warned to stay inside at night time while they continue to investigate the cause.
Fades black.
